Hi — I'm a husband and a dad of two girls, 14 and 9. I spent my whole life in Chicago before we packed up and moved to Southern California, and somewhere between the winters we left behind and the ocean we found, this place became home.
Here's the thing that lit a fire under me: my oldest will be heading to college before I'm ready for it. I can count the weekends we still have all under one roof, and that number is smaller than I'd like to admit. I don't want to look back and remember a blur of ordinary Saturdays. I want beaches and tide pools and museums and ridiculous theme-park days. I want the four of us in the car with the music up, going somewhere.
And about that music — my girls are obsessedwith K-pop, which means I've become a card-carrying K-pop dad. Concerts in LA, photocards and albums from the Koreatown stores, dessert runs after the show, and counting down to KCON every year. I fought it for about a week. Now I know the fan chants. So yes, there's a whole K-pop section on this site — every concert venue, store, and café within 100 miles of us, because if it matters to them, it matters to me.
So I built this. A simple way to answer “what should we do this weekend?” — sorted by how far it is from your door, filtered by what you want to spend, whether that's a free beach day or a splurge. It's the tool I wished existed: less time deciding, more time together.
If you're a SoCal family too — locals or just visiting — I hope it helps you take the boredom out of life and get everyone out of the house. These years are short. Let's go explore them.
